High Static

Static pressure is an important component of your heat and air system. It is, however, one of the most commonly overlooked portion of a ductwork unit. With the wrong static pressure, your system is going to cause trouble that you do not want to experience. The amount of static pressure found within your ductwork is measured by the amount of water that is produced when air moves through the system. If there is more water, there is high static, or a higher resistance. This results in more energy being used to move the air, and causes the units fan to push harder to produce the air. This reduces unit efficiency and causes increased energy bills. In time, high static pressure will cause the destruction of a unit, which can be costly to replace.  Normal static pressure varies from 0.5 inches to 1.0 inches. Anything greater is a sign of trouble.
